Englisch

Why is learning English so important?

English is spoken as a mother tongue in many countries form Australia via South Africa to the United States of America. Besides it is the official language in many countries as, e g in India, Kenya or Ghana. In addition English is the most commonly taught language in Europe as many pupils learn English as their first foreign language at school.

That's why it is quite clear that we often need English on the job. And who can use the Internet efficiently without a basic knowledge of the English language?

Another aspect is that nobody wants to make a fool of himself like President Luebke did some decades ago when his following embarrassing remark took place:

" Equal goes it loose."

Heinrich Luebke was the German president from 1959 to 1967. He was known for making language mistakes - even in German. But his worst mistake was certainly the one quoted above which he made when speaking to the Queen at a big military parade in 1965. Probably Her Majesty was not able to understand what he was driving at. And what about you?
